Catching Up (Again)

Thanks to EVERYONE for your lovely comments on the sale of our condo. We are very happy to be moving on to the next installment of The Adventures of Gina and BigTea.

First off, we're getting he who was the Prince of Tennis, then became Coffee Man, then the World Traveler, off to college (where he will likely get a new moniker). This week is packing and list making. The actual schlep will be next week.

Since it looks like we're going to have to rent before we buy (if we can find a place who will take two people with no visible means of support) we're having to do both long-term and short-term packing. Doing any of this within the seventeen day contingency period is a bit nerve-wracking. (In California buyers can back out during that time for various reasons.) But, we're having faith that the deal will go through.

Somehow in the scramble to sell our place, we failed to notice that our appliances were included in the deal. Yes, of course our agent should have asked and then pointed that out to us, but they didn't. The appliances aren't exactly new. In fact, the fridge is at least twelve, the dryer from before we moved in here, and the washer maybe six or seven years old (don't remember). So, as a special bonus prize, once we're finally settled and through escrow on wherever we end up next, we get new appliances. That's okay by me (especially since getting the fridge in and out of this place is very, very tricky).

In the meanwhile, I'm determined (and devoted) to get some work in on the WIP. I do have a couple of submissions out due to conference requests, and I know I have to finish it ASAP and then continue with the submission process. Since my whole life is being turned on its end, it makes sense that I would be at this point in my writer's journey right now, too, don't you think? With any luck, I'll be talking to agents in a few months from a campground somewhere in California.

For your viewing pleasure (especially you writers out there), a friend sent me a link to this. You must watch it.

BTW--he's 103 now.

Maybe next time I'll regale you all with the next episode of my adventures: Brawling with Helicobacter Pylori.

Good luck getting World Traveler off to school. Been there. Done that. Have a few t-shirts.

Loved the vid on language and spelling. Facile with his hands, too. :-)

Good luck with the writing.

I'm wondering what he would have to say about word verifications or captchas. lol

Passed it around to my French colleagues who are always complaining about the way we spell things vs. say. Gotta give the French this, their language *is* phonetic. Even if it is D-U-M ;-)
