Sold Out!
Here I am right before the Literacy Signing last night. Yes, those are Jo Beverley books encroaching into my space (which I didn't mind at all). It has always been a dream of mine to participate in this event and help raise funds for literacy, easily one of the most worthwhile causes an author can support.I had a great time and was lucky to be on an aisle seat so that I could get up and hug friends as they stopped by to chat and even buy my book!
Jill Purinton, who I know through the Cherries (and who was a great support during the American Title contest), was my first buyer. Ever. The first person I signed a book for in public. And I didn't misspell anything (or if I did, she was nice enough not to tell me!). She was also very gracious when I said, "you really want to buy it?" somewhat doubtfully. (Yes, I need classes in salesmanship.)
By the end of the evening I was gladly signing books for people I've never met. That means there are people I don't know who are reading my book. I was never sure about that up until now. It's somewhat intimidating, but something I must get used to since I'm totally hooked on this words-to-paper-to-book thing.
The hardest part for me was coming up with something clever and individual to say--especially for the buyers I knew. Hopefully that gets easier with time too.
The best part was that I sold out of my books!
Outside of two tired feet, I'm going great. Today the conference starts in earnest with workshops and a meeting of my Young Adult chapter. Time to get moving.

Woo-hoo! Gina was a sell-out. I'd do a backflip, but the 'puter is in the way. Yeah. Right. That's the only reason.
