Wasted

It used to be that for me to feel this exhausted and bleary in the morning, I had to have done something really fun the night before. And yes. It's been a long time since I've done any of that. (Whatever it is you're thinking.)

Let's just say (because I don't want to get dooced) that during a live on-air fund raiser and auction, it's quite distressing for all involved when you say five four three two one roll-it, and instead of segment one, segment two rolls. On four channels. And then, for things to go wrong again. And again. And again. And during this time for everyone around you (or me as the case was) to be upset and to want to do different things--or not to know what to do--and to have to deal with this (and explain things) while I was trying to figure out when the segments would be over, so that we would be ready in the studio to be live again.

No wonder I feel slightly dead.

But, in spite of everything (and there was far more than I'm tellin' ya here, my sweets), we came out exactly on time.

an aside...the "dooce" definition and Urban Dictionary it came from made me chuckle.
Hope you feel better after some coffee or tea and a few hundred words ;-)

Live TV is nuts! I get butterflies just thinking about it. I'm much more of a "fix it in post" kind of girl!

paris--you might find Heather's blog interesting. she's quite irreverent.

katie--i *love* live TV. i firmly believe that's what TV is for . . . but when it goes wrong it can go spectacularly wrong like it did on Monday. there was no saving it.

for an outside observer's take, you can read here
