Number Thirty-One
I have this habit (ahem) of checking my Amazon ranking which is totally ridiculous because RAVEN is only being sold on the Kindle and it doesn't really mean anything anyway, but because I have no self-control with these things, I do it anyway. (I've had to give up chocolate because of my blood sugar, so it's not like I don't have any self-control.)So there I was yesterday evening checking my Amazon ranking for no good reason and I discovered that it had dropped by some incredible number and was at 3,403 which put RAVEN at #31 on the Kindle Store > Books > Romance > Historical > Regency category . . . which (as you know) is kind of silly because it isn't a Regency. But oh well, I'll take it anyway.
Today the good news is that I got my taxes done in time. We're getting a refund. And I don't have to do them again for another whole year.
But probably the very best news of all is that last night I finally cracked the elusive 50K word mark on the WIP. Every time I got close, I'd end up cutting big pieces of what was coming next so that I'd drop back down again. And then on the trip up to the wedding, I did a very thorough cleanup on the rough of the last act, and I lost several pages.
Making the fifty-thousand mark is a biggie because now I'm on the downhill slope. I really do want (plan) to finish the book by the end of the month.
So, must get to it. What's your good news?

Gina, is this the YA you're at 50K on? With the great title? Congrats! That's awesome. I'm hoping to be at 100 good pages on my WIP by the end of this week, rough draft finished by May 1. Not sure that's going to happen, but I'm getting off blogger RIGHT NOW and getting down to it.
louisa--you are a faster writer than me! but yes, this is the YA with the great title (that I've only shared privately so far). good luck with your deadline too! let us both be where we want on our WIPs by may day. :)
