Happy Launch Day!
It is no accident that I picked today to launch myself in my YA author alter ego, Theresa Black. There are those who think April Fool's Day is silly and pointless, but I enjoy celebrating anything that is silly. Frankly, I don't think we have enough silliness on the planet, in fact quite the reverse. There is far too much to be serious about, and it's very easy to forget to have fun because of the load that a normal day can pile on our shoulders.
So, given a chance to do something off-the-wall and even prankish, I'll take that over war, starvation, and grief.
Another thing about April Fool's Day that I truly love: it's not a Hallmark Holiday. Nobody is telling me to buy anything for anyone. No flowers, cards, dinners, expensive gifts are necessary to prove my love. It's a FREE holiday.
And twenty-seven years ago today I moved in with the DH. So maybe it adds some stick-to-it-a-tive-ness too. Let's face it, you gotta have some silly to be happily married after all this time.
So let's talk about why Theresa Black is silly. For starters, it's the name, although at first glance you might not think so. Theresa is my middle name. I was named after my Italian grandmother Teresa. Aha. Notice anything about that? nods. Apparently someone had an extra h they didn't know what to do with and they gave it to me. I ended up with the German version of the name. Here's the irony: I am Russian, Italian, French, Dutch, English, etc., etc., almost everything (European) a person can be but I have not a speck of German in me.
But serendipity was at play here too. TheresaBlack.com was available. So was TheresaBlack.net (one is cautioned to buy both to protect themselves). Teresablack.com/net was not available. So, maybe my parents weren't so screwy after all.
Please come see me on my new site. Leave me a comment if you will.
