At the Lab

So here I sit. Captive. Not even one-hour into a four-hour glucose tolerance test. I did not get to eat. I did not get to drink. When I arrived, Shirley gave me this disgustingly sweet orange stuff to drink (although it wasn't as disgusting as the stuff I drank on my last test), and now I'm waiting for her to poke me every hour. But, by the end of this we should have some Concrete Data that Could Change My Life.

So I put up with it, although not with much grace. (After all what can you expect from someone who hasn't had their morning tea?)

I am about to commence working on the WIP, but I thought I'd check in with you all since I was able to hop a signal (actually it's the city's free wi-fi).

Concrete Data that Could Change My Life. ?? You have my curiosity piqued. What's up ?? Or is it TMI to request ?

It's just that the last set of results from this test are so old they were destroyed after the Northridge Quake . . . so I only have my memory to go on when I tell the doctors how my blood sugar behaved in a (can you believe it) six hour test in 1975.

You see, because I'm so big on self-diagnosis (just call me Dr. Black), I've figured out that I am once again hypoglycemic, and it is what has been making me so periodically exhausted. Because since I've been eating (healthy) snacks between means and making sure I get lots of protein, I haven't been exhausted.

But I'm looking forward to consulting with a doctor on this. :)

Good for you, Dr. Black, I am all for self-diagnosising. So once you find out will you just keep doing those good snacks and protein ?

paris--yes, absolutely. Although I'm hoping that the doctor will give me more up-to-date information on how best to do that since I'm working off of what I learned in 1975. Now they even count grams. :)

I was scared! Glad it's not something more serious! Hope you get your blood sugar levels back to normal.

Carleen--sorry. I didn't mean to make it such a cliff-hangar! (Not enuf tea, obviously!)
